a time when i was driving on the boring road from england to scotland

funny u should say that

I was travelling from england to scotland and was at least 6 hours into my journey tired and longing for a cuppa tea and a rest for my weary eyes when suddenly my wife awoke from her sleep asking if we were nearly home to which i answered only about 40 minutes to go darling, about 10 minutes later as i was driving on a dark part of the road my wife piped up , what time do they switch those lights on I looked around to my left then to my right and couldn`t find the lights she was talking about I said what lights to which she said those lights I was stumped and then it dawned on me she was actually talking about the CATS EYES in the road well i just burst out laughing and said take a look out the back window and you will find that the lights have been switched off again, hahaha this is atrue story and hope you can see the funny side as i did, my wife is so innocent that`s what i love about her .

Appreciated your comment about being disillusioned with one's country and politics in general. If we find ourselves wishing to 'jump ship' and re-locate to another country, where should we go? At almost 62, it would be a bit of a challenge to learn a new language. But I have read an article on Americans moving to Panama, and have an elderly friend whose son moved to Argentina, where the hospital services rivaled those in the states, and the cost of living was half of what it is here in the states.
