Wiki Nuts and Bolts

I seem to be fascinated by Wikipoints and standing of various nuts in the community.

I hover somewhere in the middle of wikipoints; its good; I can't fall off the edge!

There I am, a little cartoon figure moving sideways on Wikiline. I never seem to be constant like the Wikistar. My position leans right even though I prefer to hover somewhere in the middle. Balance is the key to life. Only those on the edges tend to fall off. But then, if you don't fall, you don't get up either; neither does this mean that you are the fallen one or that fallen ones never get up. Many in upright positions have fallen to great depths. Here, perched on the blue Wikiline, there is not much place to rev yourself for big leaps in different directions. Just in case, you wanted to move left, wiki will have to undo a great many technical problems and I doubt Wikidear will like that. Anyway, if you jump, you'll probably end up landing on one of your own articles below anyway!

What happens when you reach the end of Nutpoints Line?

So, what happens when a Wikinut reaches the end of the line, the line that shows little wikinuts steadily shifting right; the one that indicates your standing in the community, your points of emphasis. That wikinut looks like a one-man-woman-army, slowly albeit steadily advancing in the right direction. I've noticed that quite a few have reached the end! So what happens now? Do they fall off and disappear somewhere or do they stay standing there forever? Or maybe they turn around and start another line or get themselves a brand new line. Somebody needs to intimate me about this or I'll just continue to presume things about wikinuts and their positions; maybe wikinuts change their status and turn into superwikinuts; perhaps they start hopping on other pages effortlessly; no Moderators will be able to catch them.

Wikinut needs to make a decision about points and lines!

Something substantial must happen to Wiki's system of points, stars and lines; do they merge or do they go their separate ways? How long do the lines go and how many points must be collected to turn them into stars if they ever transform into some? Why must everyone move in the same direction? Surely this is not North Korea! There must be a way for little Wikinut to move left as well. Having everyone move in the right direction is going to leave the Left very livid and God forbid they might throw a tantrum! Moreover, if everyone is right, then no one is wrong, and if everyone is wrong, no one is right. Maybe that little wikinut fellow could show some initiative and move in any direction it wants, instead of depending on some nutty points; maybe it could show some enthusiasm for another color, be a rebel without a cause and start moving left!

Mostly the stars, belts, and points, are a way to motivate people, in the past Wikinut asked users if they wanted such awards, and they did.

Well I for one like the stars and if you ask about points, you cannot go below what you have achieved. It doesn't matter if you make stew or settle for a pie, the other writers will have to earn their points the hard way.

I think a real achievement will be to get a million page views. Only very few have achieved that till now - siva

Ditto what Siva said--page views are are probably more impressive in terms of the value of your writing than how many pages and comments you've posted and friends invited, etc.

As with many online reward 'badges' - the meaning in them lies in what you give them. personally, I do not think the location of the little guy on the line matters much--but it can be an indication for other members to know how active you are on Wikinut, or how long you've been here.

Anyway, dear Joyce--bravo on your star. It's nice to see you posting here.

Thanks Rama. I think wikinuts got terribly excited about the explanation of wikiline and and missed the tongue-in-cheek completely :)
Will email later. Be well.

Yes, the Wikinut line of little people seems to go on indefinitely! Although I'm more interested in writing and having my writing read than I am in rewards or status statistics, it sure would be nice to know what the numbers mean.

An afterthought upon rereading your article: Be aware that being far right on the Wikiline says nothing about your politics.

That is the irony; being far right on the line and yet being on the left! BTW, the line does seem to end and that's why I was wondering when the little nut would fall off :) Thanks LeRain.
