A simple person was a gift in a national workshop although his simplicity cause some problems for him self. How come?

What's wrong with simplicity?

There is no problem if you are a simple person and come from a village. There is no problem at all if you can not do precisely like other people do. There is no problem too if you can not say some thing gently. And there is no problem if there is no mistakes. Off course you will get a problem as a simple person if you do not know where you are and what you must do.

This is a story about my friend who came from a small village in West Java - Indonesia. He was lucky because he had been chosen as a district representative for a national workshop held by West Java Local Government. The workshop was held at a big hotel in Bandung City. His name is Mr. XX (sorry...I should hide his real name).

On that day, Mr. XX came alone. In front of the hotel, he met me and we greeted each other. But he looked so surprised and his eyes looked around the hotel, up and down. On the front office, he could not hide his astonishment. He whispered on my ear, "Lila, this place is so huge and ...so..beautiful. It is too cool as well. How can be? Hot outside and cool inside !"
Mr. XX didn't stop to look around when I check in and I had to check him in too. And when a bell-boy came for bringing our luggage, Mr.XX didn't want to give his big bag.
Participants' room were divided into two sections. That was why I might depart from Mr.XX.

In my opinion, Mr. XX is a nice person and will always be. But, he had a problem with big city's life especially its hotel. His room mate told me how difficult Mr.XX with the hotel's toilet. He could not take a shower. He didn't use to use shower. He had to go to a stall in front of the hotel in order to buy water scoop. There after, he filled the bath-tub water fully and then took a bath. All over the toilet's floor got wet. The funny thing was, Mr. XX could not use toilet paper He used it for sweeping his mouth after his meals. Poor Mr. XX.

Mr. XX was a fast learner. After his three days workshop, he could use the toilet paper as it supposed to be. But still, he could not take a shower. He also could not sleep in his air-conditioned room. He chose to sleep at hotel's security's office in front of the hotel. He slept there every night till the workshop over.

Mr.XX is a simple person. He didn't want to be busy with many different spoons on the table in meals time. He ate without any spoon. He used his hand.

With his frank speaking, the workshop got good inputs. Mr. XX is a simple but a smart person. He brought many good ideas straight froward and without many "bubbles" words. He gave fresh opinion that never be given by other participants. Thanks. Mr. XX

I believe that your Mr.XX is very human, more human than many so called polite metropolitan people. I admire him greatly

It takes time to adapt to a new environment. Such persons need not be hated but helped to readjust.
