Is there any real differences between them and what are they?

What Is The Difference Between Bondage & Bdsm?

First of all before you take a look into the differences between them you need to understand what they are and what they mean.

~ Bondage is described as sexual way to tie a partner/lover up and make love to them, it is usually light and has no serious Domination or Submission involved.

~ BDSM stands for “Bondage & Discipline” (BD), “Domination & Submission” (DS) and “Sadism & Masochism” (SM). However they don’t have to be used in the same situation, for example, you could have Domination & Submission with Bondage and not have Discipline and Sadism & Masochism.

Bondage and Discipline is about tying someone up and/or inflicting a level (high to low) of pain to them. The bondage doesn’t have to be restrictive and the discipline doesn’t have to be about pain, it could be about not being able to orgasm (chastity).

Domination and Submission (Dom and Sub) is basically two people (can be more, but is very commonly 2), one is dominant and tells the other person what to do, the other person being the submissive who takes the orders and does what the Dom says. In most cases the Dom and Sub have a healthy and loving relationship between them and are taking bondage and discipline to a higher level.

Sadism and Masochism is all about either receiving pain (Masochism) or inflicting pain (Sadism) to another person and in both cases the person gets sexual satisfaction from doing it or receiving it. This can tie in with the other elements of BDSM, like bondage for example.

Difference 1

Bondage is fairly light and based around sex (whether it be oral, anal or just straight sex), it can be used to get more aroused and thus increasing satisfaction from sex.

BDSM however is about control and discipline, in some cases it may not involve sex at all, for example: a Dom wants more control from his/her Sub so he/she locks a chastity belt onto the Sub.

Difference 2

Bondage is about both people and to make sure that each other are satisfied with bondage. It is all about knowing the limits of the other and just generally having a great time together.

Where as BDSM is about the dominant getting the respect as that is the person in charge and they get priority over the submissive, this does not mean that the Sub does not get any satisfaction from this, as most Subs enjoy being submissive.
