Time and Leisure Money and Relaxation Management

Every now and then I think about money and relaxation. This is my favorite leisure time management activity. Invariably, I end up writing an article about it and…so here we are. Time and leisure are like thieves who walk hand in hand. I find it difficult to tell the two apart…except when I work.

Stumble on the threshold of time

Only wise people give themselves options; fools look to others for their choices. Time, leisure and management of time schedules though folded one on top of the other fails or succeeds when one uses them properly. Leisure consists of activities like cutting up paper into flowers and vases or birds, flying kites, making rugs or bags, sewing a cushion or cushion cover, frightening the cat (my favorite), sleeping in front of the television, wondering about the missing chair, puzzling over some newspaper headline, make faces at cows grazing outside in the front lawn…Hey! Shoo, shoo those cucumbers are poisonous, shoo…

Differentiating effort to make money

When one thinks about time (it is the change of color of the sky outside the window unless it is the face that peeps out of the cuckoo clock), one thinks about one of the two things – money or relaxation. One is in the form of bills and the other in the form of toilet paper (some people use them interchangeably and sometimes it does not work). Though both are the end of the rainbow of effort, the destinations are separable in that both are interlinked but have separate identities. One can relax without money and one can have money without relaxation…you see how it is.

Management of cattle…or camels

On the other end of the relaxation scale one sees routine time. Time needs management. It is like the rain and the sky. Though we do not require faith to know about them, we know that we will get drenched if we go out of our home. We need to see our priorities in this issue of time versus space adjustment. Leisure is a part of time itself though time cannot be integrated into leisure by its very definition. It is like the camel passing through the eye of the needle…the camel knows just how difficult it is. People say that this is why the camel got its hump. It kept charging against the needle repeatedly and its body folded up into the shape we see. That is why we need to manage leisure. Management of money and relaxation are important. Ask anybody, they will tell you why. I am wondering where I am going to get the money for my relaxation management. At times, it takes up all my effort and I fall asleep. A walk in the forest might be refreshing but don't get lost.

Set leisure apart at least two or three times a day

Leisure that is not managed properly becomes a burden. Just as time becomes unfathomable when it is taken out of context, leisure that has no direction will fall flat. The Persian carpet was once a lovely maiden who tried to jump out of the sea, where she lived into the sky and become a star. First thing for managing leisure is to decide what you will do. Once you have made a decision to indulge in some activity, you must allot some specific time limit so that you know you have achieved a target. You have done something on your own for your own pleasure…like flying a kite or reading a book. When we spend leisure well, we achieve heaven.

Wonder that is management

Management deals with many aspects but those that help handle money and aid relaxation prove most beneficial to the common man. Good money management gives good relaxation. It is good for your health. Doing things that others do will make you feel happy, until you realize that you did not know why the other person did that particular thing. This happens frequently with me when we all get together for the morning prayers in our school (one of the many mysteries in my life). Next in the series of what to do when you have time and want to do something we will dwell on gardening. Or traveling. That is we will have some help from the time management bureau who have kindly consented to present their findings on the matter of space and time continuity and we will study their result on why death proves to be a giant leap of faith into the infinity. And how travel increases the chances dramatically. So grab a shovel and follow me down the garden.

Snerfu, great article as always. I loved the pictures and videos. When you write articles like this you make me think of how bad I am at time management. I used to be really good but that flew right out the window. I have so many things that I have to do which leaves little time for the things I want to do. I think if I had the time I would like to sit and read for hours but that is just not feasible. Too many obligations, children, dinners and the list goes on and on.

Yes Nancy, you could spend time with your grandchildren or you can spend time alone.
I think you have made a good choice there.
Most of my fondest memories are those of my Mom's cooking.
All said and done, time management is really children management isn't it?

A great article- You have tried to join a league of writers with an original thinking mind, though I could not fully understood a few lines, especially the second section. Thanks for sharing this article.

Thanks for likening me to a 'band of original thinking minds' Ptrikha.
When the original speed of your mind does not match the actual speed, it begins to lag. The engine stalls. And manyu writers fill up their pages with tripe when their minds are not fully functional. I hope I make myself clear.
Have a nice day.

Very nice article. :) And you are right about everything in there. Without leisure time, we become like machines, chasing monies but getting no pleasure in doing that. Suddenly we might end up finding ourselves with enough monies but nobody to enjoy it with or no health or energy or age to do so. Life is not meant to be like that, for anybody. Loved the attachments. :) Beautiful. If I had to choose, I would include long walks in woods, and spend all my leisure time with children, or doing gardening. :)

I find enough pleasure in sharing the writings especially when appreciative people like you stop to read it. But like you say, walk by the woods could fire me to do wonderful things...like chasing after the children or the cat.
Thanks for the pat.

I absolutely loved that article. There are not many, that have humour when it comes to money! Although my idea of relaxation is writing and a good read!

Oh, and in my house...housework is not a chore, it is seen as relaxation or it would never get done.

Yes butterfly38, I too love cooking not because I want to eat but because of the creativity involved.
Thanks for stopping by, have a nice day.

Creative cooking always tastes better, apart from when my other half cooks a pizza and burns it!

When something has to be done urgently, give it to a busy man - is the adage. With modern gadgets and social networking, even lazybones have got cracking, they are led by the small flickering screen - their fingers do the talking! Nice share, Snerfu - siva

Great nugget of wisdom Siva. We get up daily to idlis and sit and watch serials (not punning there)..Yet when we have to see our job, we drag our feet.
Thanks for stopping by, have a nice day.

I think it is monotony and resistance to being forced to do something that makes us drag our feet on our jobs. Obviously it means motivation is lacking.

New thoughts trip us up vandana and Siva is not spending time throwing flowers at beauty queens...I think! First person to get ideas will probably plunge into it and leave the others behind.
I think everybody has lost the sense of involvement broadly speaking.
