Anything that can be spammed will be spammed, and spammed as long as it can be spammed

No Bills Here

Yesterday morning, I was looking at my article when beneath it, masquerading as a comment was a big lump of SPAM.

This lump was selling all sorts of stuff...

(to give you an idea I've sort of kind of altered this ad a bit..but its about three times as long)

Contact Us

Immediately I wrote to 'Contact Us' advising that the comment section beneath my article was now a Spam Zone.

I didn't fret, I went over to read a friend's article, and lo and behold! She had been spammed as well!!!!

As I had gotten up pretty early in the morning I figured that I arrived directly behind the Spammer, one Dfgwea so sent in a complaint on her behalf.

Six hours later the Spam was still there, so I complained again.

Before I logged off for the night I took a scan....

The SPAM was still there!
This morning as I logged on...
You got it...

The SPAM was still there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The How of Spamming

Spammers 'fly kites' on various sites. They need to know how long their SPAM will live, if even take that first breath.

Spammers don't even glance at Hubpages, because nothing is posted until the author 'accepts' the comment. So even one keystroke is a waste of SPAM time.

On Triond every writer can delete comments. It may take two clicks, but it's gone.
Of course, this depends on how often a writer 'polices' her work.

There are those who log on a few times a day, check 'comments' and delete SPAM. Others might log on every day but don't check comments So it's hit or miss for the Spammer.

Wikinut has rolled out the Red Carpet.

Not only do authors have absolutely no control over the comments left on their article, but the mammals that do aren't particularly active.

None were working yesterday or seem to be on call today, so it's a pretty comfortable perch for a Spammer who can get at least 48 hours free ad space...(or more!)

Spammer, can you do me a Favour?

Since Spammers are descending like vultures on a carcass, I would like very much if they would help me network my articles.

It won't cost them a thing, and increase their audience if they would Stumble, Digg, Reddit, etc all articles they are using for Advertising Boards.

It can be the start of a beautiful symbiotic relationship

Way to turn it around in your favor. Spam, It reminds me of an old Monty Python Skit. We have spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, sausages, and spam. Have you got anything without so much spam in it? I don’t like spam!

the owners must allow the authors to delete comments. It is as easy as that.

Unless the Spammers promise to Network my article

well, I totally agree, spam is something you need to take seriously, the onyl thing that makes me feel better is that the spammers don't actually have a link. But like you I'd lvoe to hear oback or at least be allowed to delete said spam... or a content filter...anything

I mentioned this months ago. Triond allows you to delete, Hubpages needs you to approve, hence Spammers don't have much chance there.
With the current 'content farm' situation, it is in the Owner's interest to keep his site as pristine as possible

yes I totally agree with you, and even hubpages has that content farm, because most people don't take teh time to figure what is and is not spam.

People will do as much as they can get away with. Far from people having an 'internal' right and wrong they will push as much as they can. Most people do try to write as professionally as possible but others take advantage.

Let's damn this spam!
I saw some spamming comments by someone who is not a Wikinut. Hope Wikinut deletes them.

You have to complain and complain and write to contact us and keep going. It takes about 48 hours...

I dont know if you ever got this resolved so I forwarded your page to the head guys!

Wikinut is a newer site, with fewer guys working to do that sort of thing - I would remove it if I could!

What the 'bosses' have got to do is allow the author the ability to delete. The second the writer gets control that is the last second you see spam.
