Resuming my Life

None of us know what life, or each day has in store for us although mine is fairly well outlined, as I am in a state of disablement and confined to my house. A rough patch has just come to an end so I hope to get back to what is reasonably normal for me in the next few weeks

Beating the Odds

My bones have been 'playing up' recently with my knees, shoulders and wrists deciding to all go on strike together. Arthritis is unpleasant, but it is not a killer, so suffering from this has to be a far better option than some of the other things out there that can attack us. One or two other things have had a go at attacking me, but I have managed to beat them off, but the bone ache is persistent. In the past two years I have had mini operations on each wrist to remedy carpal tunnel conditions, which have been reasonably successful, I have had my shoulders injected and manipulated under general anaesthetic and had the muscles of my upper arms put through their paces. All this has achieved a good level of success. But the doctors have now decided that I am too high risk for major surgery and are not going to operate on my two knees, which are the major cause of the immobility - they don't move and at times the pain is excruciating.

Observations - to keep the brain ticking

Due to my lack of mobility I am confined for the most part to my bedroom. Fortunately this is where my computer system is set up, and placed adjacent to the window that gives me an upstairs view out over our road. I have been spending the mornings here working a few minutes at a time and watching life going on outside. Our road is a hill, the top end being a cul de sac so I have been watching a lot of activity since New Year For several weeks recently there have been road works carried out while new cabling has been installed for the electricity services. This led to an amazing amount of chaos, which, from my safe confines, was rather fun to watch.

Family Fun

Last September (oh how time flies) I acquired a new grand child a second grandson to go with the grand daughter and grandson I already have Our new little man is named Harry and he has an abundance of really red hair ! He is a most cheerful little chappie, and whilst visiting is not easy, he has found his way here to see his Nanna on several occasions.

Care in progress

I have to have people come in each day to help me, and then I have other people here, including my sons who pop in and out whenever they can But the two regular guardians are two four-legged little people who follow me around all day, sit on the back of my chair, curl up on my bed and lie at my feet waiting to be fed.

My grandchildren

Here they are - Chloe, Jack and Harry. They are most delightful children who work well together and like to share activities. Chloe and Jack love Harry and enjoy having him with them. On my birthday they recorded a short video that my son Dan forwarded to me, of them singing happy birthday to Nanna, As the two older ones are singing, Harry is moving his head from side to side, looking first at one of them and then at the other and chuckling all the time to the music. This is what makes life fun.
