Observations by the Feline's Slave

At the age of 13 my younger son wanted a pet. We opted for the most beautiful tiny bundle of fur we had ever seen. . . . our tabby cat we called Fluff. He took over our lives.

Habits of a cat

Furry and frisky and friendly feline
For fourteen years you have been mine
Or am I yours? It’s hard to say
You eat and sleep away each day
With indifference to toe-ing the line

You sleep on the end of the bed,
But it really does have to be said,
You choose the best place,
leaving me little space
to find somewhere to lay down my head.

. . . . living a cat's life

The years are just showing, a tad
You’ve not quite the speed that you had.
You laze in the sun,
with a spasmodic run -
Just to prove you are still the ‘top’ lad.

But to other young cats say beware.
Tread into our grounds with due care.
This is his domain
And you will not remain
very long, when he spots you are there.

Dominating his domain

Some days he will tolerate ‘friends’
with indifference, his gaze merely lends
a haughtier air.
He just doesn’t care
But his ‘kingdom’ he fiercely defends.

This beautifully marked Tabby cat
Still agile and lean, never fat,
He’s ours to the end
This cuddlesome friend
We love him, and really, that’s that!

I loved that cat dearly. He lived to be 16. Now I have two twin cats (from the same litter) who continue to rule the house.

I only used his kitten photos, but we do have some wonderful ones through his life. He was loyal, loving and totally in charge!

Thank you Stella. We loved that cat and still miss him greatly, even though our lives have been completely taken over by the two twins we took on, and who are now 6 years old. I will have to put some of their funny antics on one of the days.
