A different look at Aesop's The Peacock and the Crane

A different look.

Once upon a time there was a peacock named Serendipity who was so proud of her colorful feathers. She would go around and display such beauty. She would do this everyday in front of everybody. Her neighbor, a crane, was fed up of the peacock’s boastfulness so she decided to finally end it by proving a point.

“Your feathers are beautiful but are useless. Look at me, I can use my plain white feathers to fly!” the crane proudly said as she flapped her wings and started to fly.

“Can you fly higher?” the unimpressed peacock responded.

“But yes of course!” the crane proudly answered as she flew higher and higher until she hit the zoo cage ceiling totally breaking her neck. She died.

Morale of the story: “There’s a thing called beauty and brains”

Another thing, we are too proud for things that we never had a say in. Looks and races, really no one chooses but you find people boasting about their looks as if they made them themselves and their race this and that as if they chose to be born in that race! Damn, do something that people can associate it with you like writing a good article at Wikinut. Great sharing my friend!
