Christmas Time

Christmas time for families always seem to make the news in some way or another. Thus, I thought I would write up my own fictional news story about a family around holiday events, times, and places.

Christmas Times and Events

When Christmas rolls around it actually begins in July. "Ever hear of Christmas in July?" Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. It comes early no matter how one looks at it. We could say Christmas begins the first week of December.

At the thought of the holidays coming around, one might prepare their wish lists, menus, and grocery lists. It's a complete juggling, struggling, management concept all for the people they love, ones they wish to show appreciation to on this happy day at such a fine occasion as Christmas time.

Parties

Well, let the gathering parties begin. Can't hang ornaments and greens without having a party so the family and friends join in making it a real ol' gala experience.
Let's imagine a real tall Christmas Tree, maybe a baby Douglas Fir, or another pine tree that's fit for lovely d├ęcor.

As a wonderful setting, we can envision grand parents sitting over on a love seat sipping hot cocoa together while watching the babies.
Gingerly, a couple untangles lights, garlands, icicles, and trinkets to display around the tree. Certainly that would include ginger man ornaments, cakes, and cookies all the while, for their delicious eats.

I can imagine a little door mouse peeking out at the cat sleeping on a rug and the family dog curled up tightly by the fireplace. Brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews have no worries about school days for awhile and they just want to have fun singing and wrapping gifts.

Music and Dancing

Oh the spirit of the holidays makes the heart flutter and beat lightly like a holiday drum. Someone places roses on a stand while another takes a Poinsettia setting to a table out in the dining room to enhance the beauty of a soft linin table cloth.

Nothing beats having sound and Christmas carols streaming like yesterday's news. Everything is just right so they dance, dance and dance. They tip glasses and pour drinks till they don't know what to do and are so happy, they almost cry with enthusiasm.
All the music and dancing seem to make everything seem brighter and calmer because heaven knows the rest of the year is seemingly too busy to have that much joy and happiness as with that special time of the year; Christmas time!

DANCE

DANCE ~ DANCE ~ DANCE! Someone must hold the sheet music; someone must lead in songs; someone must turn up the lights and sing~ sing ~ sing all day long!

Sadly , the commercial hype hides the TRUE meaning of Christmas time .
I love Christmas for its wonderful reminder that the King of Glory left His heavenly home to come to earth for such as us .
God bless you Bets .

Bets, thanks for sharing such a wonderful article. Last Christmas when it was time to decorate the tree we had all our little ones come over along with the neighbor kids and they all decorated the tree. It was so much fun. The tree wasn't decorated exactly the way I would have done it but it was wonderful and I loved it. I think that is part of what Christmas is all about. Family, friends, neighbors and children being thankful for Christmas. The meaning of the holiday is so important. I wish that could be the most important part of Christmas. The stores make it so commercial. Congratulations on the shiny gold star!

This piece was so uplifting! Christmas can wind up to be family feuds rising their head up again, relationships gone sour that should be mended at holiday time, the same old bad habits brought to bear upon others, and personal idiosyncracies that won't go away just because it's Christmas.

Your story tells more of a Norman Rockwell Christmas. I'm really glad if this characterizes your Christmas time. For some of the rest of us, it's going, going, going........perhaps even gone.

Nancy and LeRain, How I appreciate your individual takes on this story and the meaning of Christmas in your lives. Wish it could be better for us all around. I just wanted to paint a pic of Christmas thru the power of words. It is all about the Lord after all and I want that story to remain all thru the years. Have a nice day and thnx again for commenting. Smiles, Bets
