The art of taking money for political advancement and appearing to be in the pocket of each lobbyist and association is explored in satire.

Press Conference...

Senator Hedley Barfley announced in a Washington press conference today held at the "Americans For Any Kind of Action" auditorium and ballroom that he is adamantly opposed to new taxes of any kind, but that he is not opposed to exempting doughnuts and bagels from the proposed new tax bill. But, despite the holes in the bill he will vote for it because we already have a tax on cream cheese.

After Dinner Doings...

A sumptuous dinner was served after the conference by the Re-Elect Barfley Committee and after donors were solicited and the plates cleared, several speakers lauded Barfley's long service and devotion to their cause. Senator Barfley then recommended his new book to members and promised each a signed copy for a contribution over $100. The book is titled "My Crusade to Save America and Restore Her Greatness" and is selling like a bad case of the measles.

More After Dinner Doings...

Senator Barfley then introduced his son Bruce Barfley, the director of Political Action for the Association, who thanked his father for the attention and vote he recently made stopping the passage of Bill No,SU2 and assured the audience of contributors that their interests are uppermost in the Senator's mind and heart and that he could always be counted on to vote their interests and be worth the money.
