Fat of a young man who desired to give up mundane.

Outcome of penance

A young man decided to give up everything worldly. So, he approached a holy saint for guidance., After several months of spiritual teaching, the Guru advised him to go to an isolated place far away from a village, live alone and meditate on GOD.

The young monk reached the place and built a small thatched hut. Everyday, he visited the village and collected the alms. He followed a simple life and spent time meditating on GOD. Everyday, the monk would hang his wet loin-cloth on the roof of the hut to dry it. One day, he found that rats had cut holes in his loin-cloth. Next day he got a fresh one from the village. He spread his new loin-cloth on the roof of his hut to dry it. Again, the rats had torn it into pieces.

The villagers advised the monk to keep a cat and it will keep away the rats. At once, he obtained a cat. From that day the rats stopped to trouble him. He then began to take care of the cat and feed it with the milk obtained as charity from the village.

After some days, a villager came to see him and advised him to keep a cow which will supply him with milk throughout the year. Soon the monk secured a milk cow. Finally he married a woman to manage the home.

After sometime his GURU came to see him. He felt puzzled when he found his disciple as a householder. The disciple fell at his feet and said, “My Lord, all for a single piece of loin-cloth!”
