More shorty-short poems to chuckle over. Would love to know which ones you like more and which ones less...and why. Happy reading...
The Smartphone
I bought my kid a smartphone
I bought it in the city
We both said "ooh!"
We both said "ah"
It was so sleek and pretty.
He:s on it all day long
He sleeps with it at night
He says "hello!"
He laughs "ho-ho!"
It makes his life so bright.
Applications, video chats
This kid is never alone
I say my grace
There's no happier face
Than a teenager with a phone.
Confessions of a Last-Minute Gal
Unprepared for the year's first frost,
I scrape ice from the windshield with a Chiclets box.
Christmas holidays sneak up on me
I scramble for presents, and boycott the tree
New Year’s Eve you’re supposed to party
Too late to register, once again I’m tardy
Valentine’s Day, that invention of Hallmark
Penning my own cards, I hit it out of the ballpark
Spring clean, spring planting, pass me by
Always busy in March, no matter what I try
Easter bunny closing in, I think he sees us
Wouldn’t it be simpler to keep Easter for Jesus
Warm weather coming now, time for that bikini
Oops, I’m not prepared to wear something so teeny.
Random thoughts
The Unemployment Office
Take a number.
Sit and wait.
For your fate.
Great.
Bananas
My bananas hang from the banana hook.
They inspire me to draw them every time I look.
Even though I am out of practice,
They look like bananas instead of cactus.
Thank goodness for that, at least
Playtime
Sometimes you just have to play.
The mood could strike you any day.
Though you’re not great or even good.
When you want to play I think you should.

Since I was once a mother to two teenagers, the first poem had me chuckling. Now I miss it.
