Are you taking too many Meds? Find out with the following five signs that I have listed below.
- 1. You find yourself going to pick up refills almost every other week
- 2. The pharmacists there know you on a first name basis after a month
- 3. You have a monthly budget for all of the co pays you pay
- 4. The insurance company send you pamphlets monthly about helping you control symptoms
- 5. The day you pick up a refill, the pharmacist does a double take, looks at you and says “ONLY one?”
1. You find yourself going to pick up refills almost every other week
Things are pretty bad when you are starting to plan your week and the multiple trips to the pharmacy are scheduled into the agenda. I stayed healthy freshman year of college with a big thank you to the long walks I took to my local pharmacy at least twice a week.
2. The pharmacists there know you on a first name basis after a month
It is one thing to start getting to know your pharmacist after a few months or even a year or so, but one month is a bit ridiculous. I think I had only been going to school for a month before the head pharmacist started calling me by my first name. He has even started asking about my schoolwork and family.
3. You have a monthly budget for all of the co pays you pay
It is important to make a note of how much of your money is going out the window, but you may be on too many medications if you are starting a column in you monthly budget where you set aside money for your co pays alone. Since I left for college, I am finding that my co pays are starting to rival the cost of my groceries. This, I am finding is not such a good thing.
4. The insurance company send you pamphlets monthly about helping you control symptoms
You know those obnoxious pamphlets, the ones that have cheesy titles such as How to Dust Proof Your Home, Get Your Asthma Under Control Today! Insurance companies do take into account what kind of money you may cost them in the future, and voila, helpful pamphlets to go around giving several tips on how to help keep your health in check.
5. The day you pick up a refill, the pharmacist does a double take, looks at you and says “ONLY one?”
A true-life story of what happened to me today… you know it’s happened to you. I went to pick up a single prescription, and the lady looked at me as if I were delusional. I am Infamous for dropping almost $60 every time I visit for refills.
